Colors of the Wind: An Earth Day Look

Hey Pretties!

I had a request to do an earthy type look in honor of Earth Day so here's what I came up with. I didn't want to do just your regular neutral browns and a pop of color so I took earthy elements in color and painted with the colors of the wind. :) You'll see in comparison to the look I originally posted on Facebook, I decided to take out the detail that I painted on one part of my face. It was supposed to be reminiscent on the tree of life, but the more I looked at it, the more I hated it so I decided to leave it out.

The more I practice, the better my winged liner will be.

A Beauty Blogger Review: Milani Cosmetics Color Statement Lipsticks & Liners

Milani Cosmetics is one of those companies that to me had gone awhile for being the underdog in drugstore makeup, but has pushed their way to the top to provide its customers with high quality products for drug store prices. Though I haven't tried all of their products...I seem to be coming back to their lip products over and over again. I've tried the mini lip glosses, the lip flashes and now, finally their newest line of lipsticks.

Milani Color Statement Lipsticks & Lip Liner
The Milani Color Statement Lipsticks are very sleek in design. Their gold tube will make you feel fancy as soon as you pick it up. I've never had fancy lipstick tubes that you can place your own special color in, such as they had in the 40's and 50's, but this definitely makes me think that I do. Its high gold sheen is very eye catching. I mean, come on, who does like shiny things...Am I right? I also love, love, LOVE that they showcase the name and color of the lipstick on the bottom, AND that the color that they showcase is true to the actual color. That's a big deal to me. There are so many products on the market now that just use a colored plastic and call it a day but no, not Milani. You can actually see the sparkles in the lipsticks that have shimmer and shine such as in #27 Dulce Caramelo or #03 Orangina (not showcased in this review).  They have a wonderful array of different colors ranging from the very bright colors of #01 Sweet Nectar and #14 Rose Hip to the neutrals of #27 Dulce Caramelo and #11 Fruit Punch. I honestly can't rave enough about the ones I've tried so far. Here is a little more insight about the ones that I have:

#27 Dulce Caramelo
#27 Dulce Caramelo- This is a frosty nude color with little flecks of gold in it. Its not exactly my favorite out of the colors that I have, but I feel it would be a good highlight color in the center of the lip. It does have a slight bit of 80's flair, but a little more modern. Its not exactly the bright frosty pink lipstick I wore as a kid playing dress up, but still gives me that feel of the past. This color doesn't look as wonderful on me as it would those of you with warmer, caramel skin tones.

#11 Fruit Punch
#11 Fruit Punch- This neutral pink is probably one of my favorites for a day time look. It's kind of that sweet bubblegum pink lipstick that we see a lot of people wearing now. Its smell is similar of that and a fruity, punchier scent. This color would look great on everyone. A sheer wash this color will just slightly change your lip color, but swipe it more than once and you've got a pretty pink for any time of year.
#12 Flamingo Pose
#12 Flamingo Pose- This name describes the color spot on. Its a pink, its a coral, its a pinky coral. I really like this one to wear now while we're still in spring, but will also be great for the summer as well. If you're not someone that likes to wear really bright pinks such as #14 Rose Hip, or really bright orange like #01 Sweet Nectar, this color is for you. This color is if Rose Hip and Sweet Nectar had a baby and named it Flamingo Pose. Very creamy and rich in texture this glides on so smooth. Do a light wash and it'll remind you of the actual color of a flamingo, but amp it up and its like that flamingo just put on a pair of sunglasses and is struttin' his stuff on the dance floor. Who's ready to boogie?!?
#14 Rose Hip
#14 Rose Hip- Ok ladies and gents, this one is the show stopper of all of the Milani Color Statement Lipsticks that I have right now. It is a BRIGHT pink so you better put on those sunglasses before you try to handle this sexy mama. I've read online that this is a great dupe for MAC's Candy Yum Yum, though I cannot confirm because I don't actually have the color myself. However, this definitely looks like a color you'd see Nicki Minaj wear. This color definitely requires some cajones to wear. But if you've got 'em, wear it baby wear it!! You will get noticed if you wear this color!
#01 Sweet Nectar
#01 Sweet Nectar-Orange lipstick. Enough said, haha! No but seriously, orange lipsticks seem to be the coming trend. And not just any old orange, BRIGHT orange. I was a little nervous when I purchased this lipstick because #1 it's bright as hell, and #2 I've never worn an orange lipstick before. I think the right person could pull this off and from what I'm hearing on my Facebook Page you all seemed to like it on me. I like it ok, but I know for me to go that bold it will take some getting used to. This is a pretty tangerine color that is on the matte side, but doesn't dry your lips out. In fact, all of these lipsticks are pretty hydrating, which is always a plus!
#04 High Voltage
#04 High Voltage- DANGER! DANGER! It's High Voltage! This is the sweetest, the reddest lipstick that I have ever tried. It has a really vinyl look to it once you put it on your lips. Someone is definitely gonna want to touch and kiss you all night in this lipstick and I think Dita Von Tesse will agree, this is a great color to have smeared all over you face. ;)
#20 Uptown Mauve
#20- Uptown Mauve- This ain't your gram's lipstick honey. Gram won't be able to handle the fabulousness that is Uptown Mauve. Its deep rich berry wine color would look gorgeous on dark skin tones. I have been on the hunt for a berry lip color that I like and feel I can pull off because they tend to be too dark for me, but this one is great.  This color makes me want to go have a glass of wine, and I don't even like wine!! Good going Milani!! You could wear this any time but I see this more as a fall or winter color. But remember, there's no rules in makeup!

Lip Liner #03 Nude
Last but certainly not least, is the Milani Color Statement Lip Liner.....

#03 Nude-Who doesn't need a nude liner in their stash? I think its pretty safe to say we all do. Don't want to spend a ton of money on a little old liner? Get this, you won't regret it. This would suit pretty much anyone. Maybe not so much of someone with very fair to porcelain skin, but you could probably get away with it. Its creamy and glides on like a dream. This color is very very similar to Maybelline's Lip Liner in Toast. I love ya toast, but this lip liner has taken your place.

Milani has great affordable prices for all of their cosmetics that are out there right now. From what I've tried so far, I have been very pleased. I did notice that there are some colors online that I have not seen in my local store such as #34 Violet Volt and #36 D'Oro. Those are some awesome funky colors that I really want to try. They have something out there for everyone so give them a try. Most of the time you can find their stuff on sale in your local Walgreens or CVS so keep a look out for that every now and then. I now leave you with a hand swatch of all the colors.....Until next time babes......TTFN!

Workin' It!!

Good Morning Beauties!!

I have not been posting on here lately and that I do apologize. But to be honest, I don't know if its the content of my posts, or the fact that I don't do too much to promote this page, but I'm not getting many views. I have been trying to work on promoting my YouTube Channel,Facebook Page, and Instagram as of late and then it brought me back to this blog...

I have mixed feeling about this blog. I'm pretty sure the only one who reads it is my niece. Every time I see her she always says, "You haven't posted on your blog in awhile, what's going on?" That makes me feel good knowing that even if she's the only one reading this on the regular, that maybe I should continue to post here. Sometimes I feel like she's my #1 fan. :) She's an awesome kid and I am so glad that I finally got to know her just a couple years ago. Maybe I can do a video with her sometime. I think she'd like that. She talks a lot so I'm sure we won't have to worry about it being a dull video, unless she gets shy being on camera haha....

Anyway, I just wanted to post this real quick to know that I haven't forgotten about this blog. I am going to try and make some changes with this and figure out a way to incorporate it more with my YouTube Channel, Facebook, etc. If you are someone who regularly blogs and has some pointers for me, leave it in the comments below. Any help is very much appreciated!!!

Glitzy Glam Fall/Autumn Look

Hello Lovies!!

I have been trying for weeks to film my tutorial on this look. It just wasn't in the cards for me until now. No matter how hard I tried to make time to do it, something always came up that I absolutely couldn't put off, and, unfortunately my channel, blog, and facebook page got put to the weigh side.

This look can be done simply which is nice for day wear, but you know me, and I have taken out all the stops for the hum drum simple day look. This has pizazz!! Glitz! Glamour!!! It's absolutely beautiful!!!

Who doesn't love glittah?!?!

Though this is a very fancy look, I used a combination of some higher end products and drugstore. All of these are pretty affordable even the high end stuff, which is what I like to do in almost all of my videos.  Sugarpill Cosmetics was definitely at the forefront of this look. I adore Sugarpill. If you haven't tried their makeup, I urge you, no, I COMMAND you go and check them out. Their shadows are very affordable for what you get compared to a lot of higher end brands. If you like shadows with a HUGE color payoff and just love bright colors in general, this brand is for you dearies!!

Did I mention this makes green eyes POP???

A Step in the Right Direction

I have been away for quite sometime. For those of you that follow me on a regular basis know that I have been posting more on my Facebook page this week. This year has been a rough one for me. I remember at the beginning of the year I was going to make this one the best year yet and wanted to stay positive from day one. I had just made the plunge into becoming a vegetarian to gain better overall health and hope to lose weight while I'm at it. I decided to start working out, and being the happiest I could ever be in all my life. Things were going so well...then...I felt like I got stabbed in the heart. I lost my grandfather on St. Patty's Day. He had been going to dialysis because his kidneys were shutting down, so I knew I probably wasn't going to see him after this year if he even made it to the end of the year. It hit me a lot harder than I thought it would, but I have grown to learn over these few months and accept that he was ready. He lived a long life and had a lot of children and grandchildren, and even a few great grandchildren. His loss kind of pushed me forward in the right direction to continue my self improving and be happy and do things that make me happy. I also was going through some tough stuff with my husband, which I'm not really ready to talk about, but we have grown from it and have built a stronger relationship over it. It just goes to show you that we're given these obstacles to over come so we can become stronger people, learn from the mistakes we make and build ourselves better...so to speak. So this is why I've decided to take a back seat on blogging, updating videos on my YouTube channel and just really talking to anybody. I've even cut a lot of drama filled friends out of my life because I've learned my time can be well better spent on something productive...like updating my blog, then to trash talk people. Do I miss those people? Yes, but I feel like I'm becoming a better person and growing and have to do this for me...I know they wouldn't understand, but the drama and bullsh*t just gets old. I'm not in high school anymore and care about more important things and just feel I can't go on with being around people like that. Its nothing against them, I just can't mentally deal with it. Does that make me a bad person?

Anywho! I wanted you all to know that I am still here! I think about this blog all the time, and I have always felt some sort of release with writing...so on that note, I'm making a pledge to keep going. I will be making a slow transition back into this. I want to keep positive just as I had told myself I would at the beginning of the year. I want to inspire someone...whether it be through words, the art of makeup, or just a pretty picture I find interesting. Tell me what you want to see!!! I have a bunch of ideas running through my head, but I also want to deliver to the people the matter most...my followers!!! Comment on this post, send me a message on Facebook or YouTube...I want to hear from you!!!

Thank you all for being patient with me, the ones who I've heard from. You pushing me to keep going has done more than you'll ever know. Stay tuned because it's FALL and great things are in the works for you!!!

Much love,
Sam <3
